Zero Hours Contract TemplateRegular price £147.00
This Zero Hours Contract is ideal when you need a casual worker or Intern on a flexible basis i.e. for ad hoc or seasonal work.
Essentially this is a contract with no guaranteed hours (zero hours). You simply offer them work, when you have it, and pay them for the hours they work, but by law they don't have to accept the work you offer. This person would usually be on your payroll (PAYE).
Examples of work that might require a zero-hour contract might include:
- Bank work (for example, for the NHS)
- Students or interns who can only work during university holidays
- Delivery driving / gig economy work (for example, delivering takeaway food or giving car rides during busy periods)
- Hospitality work e.g waitresses to cover busy periods
- Retail work e.g. pickers, packers etc to handle seasonal high demands.
- Warehouse work
WHY YOU NEED TO HAVE A CONTRACT
Well firstly, it's the law. Plus, on a purely practical level, it ensures that they know what is expected of them and what they are getting from you (and not getting from you), i.e. their hours of work, holidays, sick pay etc.
But, another important reason is that if things ever did go sour with your casual worker, or they tried to screw you over or claim they are an employee, this is the number one document that can make or break your business.
In this template, it clarifies this person is a worker (not an employee) and covers the following situations, and many more:
👌 This is a zero hours contract, with no guaranteed pay or hours
😡 Confidentiality - so they can't share your strategies and secrets
💬 Clarity - to prevent misunderstandings over what they’re entitled to
💷 Caveats - to avoid paying your casual workers when you shouldn’t have to
⚖ GDPR - so you comply with the law by getting consent to hold their data
🤔 Termination clause - just in case things don't work out
